Position: Sales Manager

Location: Johannesburg

Report to: Head of Business Development – based in Cape Town.

Responsible for:

All commercial partnership sales; generating commercial partnerships, sponsorship and corporate activations for DRA self-promoted and JV events; Manage sponsorship agencies and any third party sales entities

Communicates & Cooperates with:

Senior Management; Corporate, Government and Education stakeholders; Regional leagues and drone racing stakeholders

Position Overview:

As an exciting and unique South African technology company, we have a vacancy for a vibrant, driven and well-presented sales person/ account manager with great sales and interpersonal skills to sell the company’s products.  The successful applicant will have accountability to generate sales from a portfolio of accounts in accordance with agreed targets, whilst developing and maintaining relationships with these accounts to grow total target set out.

This role is an integral part of the company’s business development, revenue generation and sales and responsible for driving sales and managing third party sales agents, reporting to the Head of Business Development.  This includes coordinating all communication and liaison with the various parties and overseeing the commercial inventory along with the development of sales tools and material for the company’s business development and sales.

The Sales Manager must be experienced in having worked in a fast paced and deadline driven environment where success is determined by business sales conversion.  You must have the ability to work independently on a project or in a team environment.  The ability to effectively communicate results to management in a fast-paced environment is necessary.

As the first point of contact for all sales prospects, this role is vital to the success of our business.  Experience in the aviation and UAV industry is advantageous.  Communication and presentation skills are extremely important.

 

Key Responsibilities Areas:

The role will be to develop, implement and drive the commercial sales plans that deliver the following:

  • Present, negotiate and sell strategically to achieve sales targets
  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships through effective verbal and written communication
  • Campaign administration of proposals and contracts
  • Campaign implementation, management and feedback to clients
  • Product/industry knowledge
  • Manage and develop commercial inventory and partnership packages
  • Manage sales and sponsorship proposals and presentations and assist in the development of sales materials
  • Drive the sales strategy in co-operation with the relevant third party sales agents and industry contacts
  • Identify relevant target companies, secure meetings and prepare and present tailored presentations
  • Oversee best practice internal sales procedures including:
  • Minimum accepted discounted package prices
  • Approval of costings and prices internally (i.e. profit and loss statement prior to issuing proposals)
  • Proposal documents
  • Compile and maintain the database of prospects across all industry sectors – private sector, Government, Education etc.

 

Skills / Traits Required

  • Passion: A passion for technology and how technology can change the status quo
  • Education: Minimum matric (English/maths a must) – or experience requirement is met, a tertiary diploma or degree in marketing would be advantageous
  • Experience: Minimum of five years’ sales experience/account management, experience in dealing with clients at a management level, evidence of being able to effectively prioritise and meet tough deadlines, experience in working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge: An understanding of how to set up and run an account/client, how to report back to our clients on Excel, PowerPoint and Word, knowledge and understanding of, brand marketing, social media, marketing and activations essential, good geographical knowledge of South Africa
  • Computer literate on MS Office – intermediate
  • Valid drivers licence and own vehicle
  • Ability to nurture Board level relationships
  • Experience in developing and executing commercial relationships (Preference: 5+ years)

Required Qualifications / Experience

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent
  • 5+ Years continuous job experience which should include excellent understanding of or experience in sales
  • Proven track record of delivering business results
